Free Ice Skating: One More Reason to Fall in Love With Winter in Edmonton!

Glide into winter city life at Edmonton’s outdoor skating rinks. Public skating at City of Edmonton rinks is free, fun, and refreshing.

The City Hall rink even provides a limited number of skates to use for free, Thursdays and Fridays between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Santa’s Sleigh Rides - Second Last Saturday before Christmas!

Santa’s Sleigh Rides take place every Saturday in DecSleigh Ridesember starting on December 1st.  They run from noon to 3 PM and leave from the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market (10310-83 Avenue).
Bring the family as Santa himself is going to be available to greet everyone at the Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market at this same time.  Santa’s helpers will also be on hand throughout the Whyte Avenue area on Saturdays.  They’ll be handing out candy canes, singing carols, and general making magic as they spread Christmas cheer.

Snow stroll


Enjoy the calm and quiet of a winter wonderland during a snowshoeing trip at Strathcona Wilderness Centre. The centre, which stays open year-round, offers snowshoe rentals for those wishing to trek its 12 kilometres of trails winding through the woodland skirting Bennett Lake, just east of Sherwood Park.
The Strathcona Wilderness Centre is a four-season outdoor adventure centre that also offers cross-country skiing and a wide variety of recreational programs.
When: Daily, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Strathcona Wilderness Centre, 52535 Range Road 212, Strathcona County.
Admission: $7.25, all-terrain snowshoe rental.

ETS Christmas Light Tours

ETS volunteers return in 2012 with our popular Christmas Lights Tours. Tours are running on:
Friday, December 14 6pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm
Saturday, December 15 5:45pm, 6pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm
Sunday, December 16 5:45pm, 6pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm
Friday, December 21 6pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm
Saturday, December 22 5:45pm, 6pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm

All tours depart from the
north side of City Hall at 99 Street and 103A Avenue eastbound - Bus Stop #1123. Tours highlights include the Candy Cane Lane, River Valley and Whyte Avenue as well as our regular stop at the Alberta Legislature. Each tour can accommodate two wheelchair/scooter positions. Paid parking is available at the City Hall Parkade (entrance on 99 Street).
Ticket prices for 2012 - $3

Children under 5 are free and sit on lap.
You can purchase a maximum of 8 tickets. All proceeds go to the
Donate-a-Ride program.
Tickets are sold through Tix on the Square (9920 - 102 Avenue). You can purchase tickets in person, online at
http://www.tixonthesquare.ca/ or by calling 780-420-1757. There is a $1.75 charge per transaction when buying tickets by phone or internet, and you can pay with Visa, Master Card or American Express.
Tickets will not be held without payment and all sales are final – no refunds or exchanges.

Tickets must be picked up in person prior to your tour, during Tix on the Square business hours (9:30am - 6pm Monday to Friday and 9:30am - 4pm on Saturday).
